Year 9 students have recently taken part in their annual World of Work Day, giving them an insight into what life will be like after their school education.

It was a welcome return to school as this was the first time since before COVID that the event has been in person, having been virtual for the past two years!

Lots was happening on the day including speed networking sessions with business people, team building activities and various talks to inspire the students who will be choosing their GCSE options this year.

Vicky Ritson from Inspira helped to organise the event, she said:

“We were delighted to be able to coordinate key elements of the World of Work day once again this year. Students have benefitted enormously from the conversations they’ve had today and we’re grateful for the support we receive from employers, both local and from further afield. “

Mrs Kelso, Careers Lead at St Benedict’s commented:

“Year 9 have really enjoyed WoW day. It’s been a pleasure to have all the guests who came in person after the last couple of years of virtual meetings.”

“The wide range of activities helped to further develop pupil’s interpersonal skills and widen their understanding of all the careers available to them. We really appreciate the time and commitment of everyone who came to support us today.”

The Year 9 students will be shortly choosing their Options for their GCSE’s, so this event is a key one to help them in making their decisions. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and have all fed back that they learned a lot.
