History

The History Department at St. Benedict’s School aims to make History lessons engaging and challenging but, above all, that are memorable and enjoyable. We hope to use our lessons to encourage our students to look at the world with an informed and enquiring mind. We aim to fire students’ curiosity about the past and to equip our young people with the skills to reach their potential throughout their lives.

Success in History can lead to futures in many different areas including Law, Business, Journalism and Education. Many students who go on to study STEM subjects also opt for History as we provide the opportunity to develop their analytical and evaluative skills within a different field. In addition to the subject, we offer our students the chance to apply for trips that will see them visit a range of historical sites, from WW1 trenches to places like Auschwitz-Birkenau.
