Health & Social Care

The Health and Social Care department offers vocational courses in both Key Stage 4 and 5. Both courses cover a wide range of topics linking to Health, Social Care and Early Years settings.

Areas of study include:

1 – Health and Well-being
2 – Communication
3 – Building relationships in care settings
4 – The provision & delivery of Quality Care
5 – Equality, diversity and rights
6 – Health, Safety & Security
7 – Anatomy & Physiology
8 – Body Systems and Disorders
9 – Mental Health Issues
10 – Public Health Issues  

The course content and delivery makes it an excellent course for students who know the career path they wish to follow, as well as for those unsure about their future career pathway. All courses are equally suited to both boys and girls.

The curriculum provides relevant experiences to allow students to move into a career in the health, early years or social sector but is a respected starting point for other careers.  Career opportunities include Childhood and Youth Studies, Primary Education, Social Work, all areas of Nursing, Midwifery, Counselling, Paramedic Roles and other Allied Health Professions.
