Religious Education

Religious Education/Studies is at the heart of everything we do at St Benedict’s. Our aim is to develop a sense of faith that will ignite students’ appreciation of the world around them just as Jesus did through his mission; by nurturing students’ gifts and talents and making learning active, fun, and interesting.

Key Stage 3

KS3 is all about developing the core skills students will need to be successful within our department; to settle in or find their confidence and voice or learn how to actively listen. Throughout the whole of this process the department prides itself in the expertise we have gathered to help students feel at home.

Key Stage 4

KS4 becomes about applying the core skills that students have developed at KS3. We help them reflect upon their growing role in society and how their journey towards adulthood will change the role they play in our society be that locally, nationally or internationally. This challenge will lead to students growing morally, spiritual and ethically and lead to a first class qualification.

Key Stage 5

KS5 deals with the big questions in life and challenges us all to reflect upon why we do what we do and what the consequences of these actions could mean for ourselves and our families and the wider community.

Success in Religious Education/Studies can lead to a variety of destinations from Medicine to Law of the shop floor to the board room. More importantly students will receive excellence in teaching, make good progress, and develop the skills they need to be successful and have fun while they do this.
