Dyslexia

Many of our students have dyslexia and we tailor support for them in a variety of ways.

We have a specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA),  who provides excellent support for all our students.

All dyslexic students are offered visual screening to support their learning. Books and overlays are then provided for them to use in their preferred colour. We have a range of 10 colours provided by Crossbow education. All exams are then provided on coloured paper up to and including GCSE and A-Level exams.

All students are invited to take part in an after school group for individual learning using ‘IDL’ an online programme.

Our HLTA offers a weekly in school support clinic for students

Where necessary, our students are provided with either an IEP (Individual Education Plan) or Passport. This is reviewed and updated termly with parents invited to attend the planning and review meetings.

There is a monthly support group for parents. Visiting speakers are invited alongside parents/carers bringing their own issues and concerns.
