We have recently hosted our first ever cross-country fitness challenge for Primary Schools. Over two weeks in December, we were joined by St Patrick’s Primary, St James’ Junior, St Bridget’s Primary, Monkwray Junior, Valley Primary, Bransty Primary, St Begh’s Junior and Jericho School, with a whopping 350 pupils (and some teachers) taking part and completing the 2km course!

This will be the first of two events where students will run the course. They have all been given an individual time which will go towards the team average, the school who improve their team average by the biggest margin will be the winners.

Honourable mentions go to Jericho School who had the fastest individual runner, running the course in 7 minutes 30 seconds, Bransty School who had the fastest whole team time of 12 minutes 15 seconds and St James’ Junior School who had the most runners taking part.

Mrs Grealish from St Benedict’s who organised the event said:

“I would like to thank Year 10 students Ben, Josh, Finn, Rowan, Tom and Sixth Form students, Ebony and Jamie. The event couldn’t have gone ahead without their help…and tireless running!”

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the students again in June as they battle to take home the trophy!”
