Design & Technology

Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, students design and make products that solve real and relevant problems.

Our aim is to equip all students with relevant and transferable skills to produce high quality outcomes in their practical work.
Success in Design and Technology can lead the way into an enormous range of creative and practical careers, from apprenticeships through to Degree level study in any of our subjects. The range of careers offered under the umbrella of Design Technology and Engineering is incredibly wide and can suit students of all interests, abilities and gender.

Key Stage 3

All students in KS3 study Design and Technology which includes Food and Textiles. In Product Design, students design, make and evaluate a wide range of products of increasing complexity and learn to use a range of tools, materials and processes in largely practical projects to develop their technological knowledge, skills and understanding.

Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4 students may study BTEC Engineering, Hospitality & Catering Level 1/2 and GCSE Design & Technology.

 

 

 

Key Stage 5

At Key Stage 5 students may study A Level Product Design, which includes Engineering, where they enhance their visual and practical skills through developing new and improved products and increase their knowledge of the real worlds of manufacturing and marketing.
