On Wednesday, our Year 10 Rugby League team travelled down to St. Helens to play against Cowley School in the QUARTER FINAL of the NATIONAL CUP.
This was hot off the back of winning the COUNTY CUP last week!
The boys were feeling confident and determined in their ability to progress to the next round. The game started slow for St Benedict’s as they struggled to withstand the strong quick attack from the opposition.
St Benedict’s conceded two tries early on in the half but managed to get a foothold in against a very capable, organized rugby team. Halftime allowed the boys to regroup which was well needed.
They came out into the second half with a much faster, higher intensity pace that they are more used to playing. This proved to be a lot more difficult for Cowley and St Benedict’s managed to claw back two tries.
However, it wasn’t enough to grasp them the win against the well drilled opposition. St Benedict’s were unfortunately beaten 24-12 .
During the game one of our players – Adam sustained an injury that we are wishing him all the best for, and a swift and healthy recovery. Go well soon Adam
