Letter from Mrs Kar – 23rd June 2020

Dear Year 11 students

I hope this letter finds you and your family well. As a sixth form we are committed to delivering a broad and balanced curriculum to our students. Having reviewed our options, receiving feedback from our current students and in light of the changed situation this year with regard to the cancellation of GCSE exams, we have taken the decision that as of September students at the West Cumbria Sixth Form Centre will study 4 A Levels rather than 3. If a student wishes to study Level 3 Core Maths this would count as one of their 4 subjects.

We will be discussing the 4th subject choice with students on results day so that they can make an informed decision in terms of the range of subjects they wish to study. As part of our transition work, we have asked students to work on 5 subjects which will enable them to make the best decision in terms of their A Level subject choices.

If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Take care and stay safe.

Mrs Kar

Assistant Headteacher – KS5
