Year 9 take part in their World of Work Day

Year 9 students from St Benedict’s Catholic High School have recently taken part in their annual World of Work Day, which is designed to give them an insight into what life will be like after their school education.

The event was organised by Inspira with St Benedict’s Year 9 team and had lots of different activities including speed networking sessions, team building and various talks to inspire the students.

Vicky Ritson from Inspira commented:

“As ever, we’re extremely grateful for the support of so many local businesses. Students benefit greatly from these interactions, they are better informed and therefore, better placed to decide upon next steps.”

Representatives from various backgrounds gave up their time to come and work with the students including The Beacon, British Army, Sellafield, Lakes College and lots of other local businesses.

Mrs Kelso, Careers Lead at St Benedict’s commented:

“We greatly appreciate the time employers gave connecting with our Year 9 students in an inspiring way to really make them think about their steps towards a rewarding career.”

“The workshops were informative and engaging and hearing about the many roles and pathways has made the pupils think deeply about their future. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.”

It is an important year for the Year 9 students who have chosen their GCSE options this year.  So this event is a key one to guide them and start thinking about their careers long term.
