We are looking forward to welcoming all of our new Year 7 students tomorrow (2nd September). We know you will have some questions, and hopefully we manage to answer them here. Don’t worry about anything, staff will be with you all day to help you!
Where do I go on my first day?
Please make your way to the yard around the back of the school, where your Tutors will be waiting to meet you. Don’t worry, when you get dropped off there will be lots of staff on hand to direct you.
What equipment will I need on my first day?
It is important that you are organised and prepared for school, we expect each student to arrive ready to learn and having the equipment you need to be successful is a key part of this process.
You should bring an appropriate school bag each day to carry your equipment, we expect students to bring a pencil case with the following in as a minimum:
Pens (black or blue)
Pencil
Ruler
Rubber
Pencil sharpener
Colouring pencils

Individual subjects may require specialist equipment for example calculators, protractors, highlighters, green/red biros but students will be told of this in advance and not expected to have them from day one.
The Maths Department require students to have a scientific calculator, we recommend the below calculator as it has everything they will need to take them through both KS3 and KS4:
Casio fx-83GT CW – Available in Black, Blue & Pink. £13 available to purchase via ParentPay (when you are set up)
What should I wear?
Students will not need to bring their PE kit on the first day.
Details of our School Dress Code including our School Uniform policy can be found here
We advise you to name all of your items of clothing, in particular the ties which often go missing!
What do I do about lunches?
Students will require money loaded onto their ParentPay account by the morning of their first day, please do this via the online system, emails will have been circulated to parents with instructions and passwords included. Any questions, please let us know.
Our new school menu is available to view on our website here, which will give you an idea of the food on offer each week. For your first week in school, we are starting on Week One.
When will I get my timetable?
This will be available via EduLink on your first day, and each student will also be given a paper copy. Please look after this copy as you won’t get another!
Am I allowed a Mobile Phone?
For the safety of all our students, smart devices/mobile phones, if brought into school, must be kept in student’s bags (not in pockets), and switched off whilst on school premises.
Lots more information if you need it, can be found on our dedicated Transition Page here.
We can’t wait to welcome you into our St Benedict’s family!
