St Benedict’s Catholic High School proudly introduces a brand-new music curriculum to our Sixth Form cohort. As of today, we are the only Sixth Form in our area to provide and deliver a BTEC Extended Certificate in Music Performance which shows our interests in developing the next musicians.
We are closely working with the Royal Northern College of Music in making sure students in West Cumbria are given a direct pathway to pursue further education in music. Our aim is directly in line with RNCM vision for music education.
The unit, BTEC Extended Certificate in Music Performance, aims is to develop and nurture students who want to excel on their chosen instrument and be apart of a thriving music industry. We explore all sectors of music such as:
- Composing and understanding musical notation through practical workshops,
- Exploring how you would suit within the industry,
- Working together in creating musical products,
- Developing your musicianship
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Music is able to provide students with the right knowledge to either continue in further education, be a productive member in the music or transfer your skills into your chosen field.
By being a part of this course with St Benedict’s, you are becoming valuable member within the music industry. But not only that, you are helping the future generations in understanding that there is career progression with music within our area.
