This week our Sixth Form students and Chaplain Liam have hosted their fabulous charity baby shower.

Mary’s Baby Shower is an event that promotes the message of Advent & Christmas, whilst helping local mothers in need. Some mothers lack the practical means to raise their baby for many reasons, everyone’s story is different. In a way, this is very similar to Mary’s story. Many of these women aren’t able to have a baby shower, so we are throwing one for them.

Everyone in attendance brought a gift with them for Baby Jesus or Mary which will then be donated to Baby Basics, a charity who’s mission is to support those mothers in our community who need that extra bit of help.

Liam Millar, Chaplain at St Benedict’s said:

“What an amazing day we have had at our annual Baby Shower for Mary. Thank you all of you for getting involved and for all the amazing gifts you have donated for local mothers in need.

Huge thanks to Christine from Baby Basics for coming in and giving such an amazing talk on the work you all do for our community. Praise God for your work.”

Christine Davey from Baby Basics West Cumbria said:

“Thank you so much for inviting us to share a little about our project at your Christmas event on Monday and providing us such a warm welcome. We believe no mother should worry about being able to afford the basics needed for when her baby arrives and your donations of toiletries and nappies are so vital to our work.”

“We’re so grateful for the selfless giving from your sixth formers and staff, particularly when we know how tight finances are for many at the moment. Thank you for showing such love and compassion for the local community.”
