Year Tutor Evening Letter from Mrs Kar

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Year 12 Tutor evening on Thursday, 5th October, was an opportunity to introduce you to our
centre and the special part that you play in the success of our students. The evening was well attended
and we are pleased that all present took the opportunity to chat with the Sixth Form staff.

I would like to highlight that your support is invaluable as key members in the team of people that work
together for your sons and daughters’ future. To ensure success, I believe that an open channel of
communication between school and home is essential in supporting students throughout the next two
years, which are their stepping stone to further/higher education, training or employment. With this in
mind, I would like to invite you to get in touch with us at any stage of the academic year if you need
to. Our student support officer, Mrs Tomlinson, is available to take your call and ensure that your
concerns are dealt with in a timely manner. Furthermore, I have also scheduled three parent dropin
sessions as follows:

• Thursday, 16th November 2017 (3.15 pm – 5pm)
• Tuesday, 23rd January 2018 (3.15 pm – 5pm)
• Tuesday, 17th April 2018 (3.15 pm – 5pm)

Our expectations of students and parents are that students strive for the following:

• Full attendance and punctuality to school and lessons
• A high level of effort both in and out of class
• Study away from the classroom on a regular basis
• Communication and support

The Sixth Form team and I look forward to working with you over the next two years to enable our
students to progress onto their intended pathway.

Yours sincerely
Mrs S Kar
Director of Learning KS5
