Year 9 Boys go undefeated in annual Rugby Tournament

Congratulations to our Year 9 Rugby Union team who had a great tournament last week.

The annual RFU tournament, Cumbria School’s Festival, was held at Keswick RFC. The team went through the tournament undefeated winning all 4 games.

Game 1 – Probably the toughest game against a big Workington Academy side. Centre Romeo Park was outstanding in the game scoring all of St Benedict’s 3 tries. Final score being 21-14

Game 2 – Playing against Kirby Stephen Grammar school for the first time ever, resulted in a 21-7 victory. This time the scores were shared around with tries from Ben McPherson, Keelan McKweon and Romeo Park.

Game 3 – Last game in the group was against Netherhall. Some outstanding rugby was produced by the boys here, which resulted in a 35-7 score line. This time it was the turn of winger Robbie Swinburn to stand out, scoring 4 tries with Fletcher Holgate getting the only other try.

Game 4 – Final game resulted in the boy’s biggest win against Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Penrith. Try scorers where Romeo Park (2), Robbie Swinburn (2), with Tom McKinney, Ben McPherson and Keelan McKweon each scoring 1 apiece. Final Score 49-0.
