Year 7 Boys Enjoy Great Win in National Competition

Our Year 7 Boys’ Football Team are enjoying a fantastic run in the English Schools’ Football (ESFA) National Cup.

They travelled to North Shields last night, playing John Spence High School. The boys gave an impressive performance, winning the match 5-0!

Tony Harrison, PE Teacher at St Benedict’s comments:

“I am very proud of the lads after their latest victory.  They have a great team spirit and have some very talented lads in the team, they work extremely hard both in training and in games and deserve the success they are enjoying.”

“It will be interesting to see who will play in the next round which is drawn on Monday. At the end of the day if you are one of the best thirty two schools in the country at football, you are doing very well indeed as there is very, very stiff competition out there.”

So far in the competition, the boys have beaten West Lakes Academy, Queen Elizabeth Grammar, William Howard School, Morton Academy and now John Spence High School.

They are now the only Cumbrian team left in the competition and will progress to Round 6.

We would like to wish them all the best!
