Year 11 Rugby Sevens Tournament

Congratulations to our Year 11 Boys’ Rugby Union team, who have this week been triumphant at the annual sevens tournament.

Six other schools competed (Cockermouth, Keswick, Netherhall, West Lakes Academy, Workington Academy & UTC) and the tournament was split into two groups.

St Benedict’s first game resulted in a 27 – 19 victory over Netherhall School. Try scorers were Issac Scott (2), and once a piece for Jack Rose, Ashton Sice, Sam Murtagh and Harvie Hill who went on to get one conversion.

The second game against a very good Keswick side also resulted in a win. This was a very hard fought 35 – 26 victory. Try scorers this time were Ashton Sice, and two a piece for Sam Murtagh and Harvey Hill who also converted them all.

This now gives the team a chance to defend the trophy after winning it last year. The finals will be held in March 2020 at Penrith.
