Students return for GCSE Achievement Evening

We have recently celebrated with past students by holding our annual GCSE Achievement Evening.

The awards ceremony, showcased those high achieving Year 11 students who received their GCSE results in the summer. The evening recognised not only academic achievement but also students’ contribution to the wider life of the school.

As well as receiving their GCSE certificates, special awards were also handed out covering Academic Excellence; Outstanding Progress and Outstanding Effort & Achievement in all subjects.

Emma Jackson, Headteacher at St Benedict’s commented:

It was lovely to welcome the students to the first awards evening I have attended as headteacher.”

“We are delighted with how well this particular cohort performed in their GCSE year. They showcase everything that is good about St Benedicts, including our high levels of academic achievement and our successes in other areas such as sport and the arts.”

Mrs Warneford, who was Director of Learning for the Year 11’s commented:

“It was great to welcome the students back to celebrate their successes last year. I am very proud of what they all achieved, and would like to wish them all the best for their futures.”

As well as the subject awards, there was also special awards handed out for various achievements. Outstanding Academic Achievement went to Anna Woolaghan and Aaron Eldon, who both excelled in their GCSE Exams. They have both gone on to study A Levels at St Benedict’s Sixth Form.

Other awards included an Attendance Award, won by Darcy Kiddie & Aaron Eldon for both having 100% attedance.

There was also a Resilience & Ambition Award, which recognises success as a result of determination and resilience, something which is not measured in formal examinations. This was won by Jessica Taylor who has continued her studies at St Benedict’s Sixth Form. There were also other special award for STEM and Arts subjects.
