Students attend Community Day at Carlisle Utd

Year 7 students from St Benedict’s have this weekend enjoyed at Community Day at Carlisle United Football Club.

On Saturday 3rd March, Wates Construction Community Day was held at Brunton Park as part of the Carlisle United Football Club Community Sports Trust and Wates Construction Partnership.

Students from St Benedict’s, St Joseph’s, St Bridget’s and St Begh’s attended and Mayfield School were also represented as Club Mascot.

Due to poor weather conditions, the planned timetable was changed as outdoor activities were not possible. Instead an indoor coaching practice for both Junior and Secondary school children was held, with a cross-over period for all to enjoy the family zone which included pool tables, video games and table football.

All Junior school children formed a guard of honour as the teams walked onto the pitch before kick-off.

The students from St Benedict’s School took part in the crossbar challenge during the half time interval.

John Halpin, Community Manager commented:

“The pupils did St Benedict’s proud, their behaviour and enthusiasm despite the cold was excellent.”

Pupils that attended were; Poppy Fitzwilliam, Izzy Foster, Adam Garner, Mason Garner, Ethan Robinson, Jessica Bridgeman, Kaela Reay, Juliet Bridgeman, Lewis King and Jamie Reay.
