St Benedict’s Student Competes in National Athletics Competition

Year 12 student, Joe Moore has recently represented the county at the New Balance English Schools Track & Field Championships.

The event was held at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium over 13th/14th July. Joe competed in Shot Put, coming in 5th overall. He said:

Joe Moore is currently in Year 12

“It was a great experience, as it is the first time I’ve competed at that level. I’m looking forward to competing again next year.”

The ESAA National Championships are the 4th largest athletics event in the World, staged each year.

Organised entirely by volunteer teachers, they bring together the best athletes in each County in England to compete for the honour of being the best athlete in the Country at their event.

Miss Powe, Subject Leader for PE said:

“Joe has achieved athletics success this year through hard work and dedication.  He is a driven individual and is always looking at way to continue to develop.  His achievement at the English Schools was outstanding.”
