St Benedict’s Sixth Form Student plays for winning Cumbria Under 18s side

Well done to one of our talented students, who has recently been selected and played for Cumbria U18s Rugby Union side.
Joe Moore, who currently studies in our Sixth Form, played for the team against Durham U18s before the Christmas break.

The team made it two wins from two, with a 7 try to 1 win over a strong Durham side at Preston Grasshoppers ground. Final score was Cumbria 45 – Durham 7.

This is Joe’s second selection, and he will also be playing again this weekend. He said:

“I was very proud to be picked to play for Cumbria, and have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.”

The match report from Nigel Beaty, Lead Coach for Cumbria U18s stated:

“Wins for Cumbria at this age group are rare, in fact no-one can remember a win! So we should be proud and celebrate the achievement of the boys so far, as they won convincingly once again.”

The reward for their performance this season was a match against Lancashire at Kingston Park on Sunday 13th January. Unfortunately, on this occasion they were beaten 39 – 14.
