Some of our Sixth Formers are this week taking part in their residential for the Engineering Education Scheme in Newcastle.
The annual Engineering Education Scheme was launched last term, and our Sixth Form students have been having weekly meetings with their mentors, having been set their tasks for the scheme.
The Engineering Education Scheme links teams of four Year 12 students and their teacher with local companies to work on real, scientific, engineering and technological problems.
The engineers from NNL and Sellafield visit their teams on a weekly basis, and the scheme culminates with this weeks residential, and a winning team from the scheme is chosen and announced in March 2017.
Our teams have been working on tasks which include how to make a swab carrier more efficient, looking at refurbishing and changing the manufacturing process. And also looking at acoustic physics, and how to locate and rectify a blockage in a pipe.
Good Luck to all those involved!
