Four gifted students from St Benedict’s Sixth Form have been accepted onto an exciting engineering seminar next month.
REACT Engineering’s ‘Into Engineering’ seminar takes place during the first week in July, and students went through an application process in order to attend. Only eight students in total are accepted onto the seminar each year, so it is great that St Benedict’s has secured half of these places.
The seminar involves a week long simulated decommissioning project for local Year 12 students. The project gives the students an opportunity to experience a range of activities typically carried out by professional engineers.
The successful candidates are Joseph Brennan, Joe Moore, Andrew George and Aaron Soriano, who are all studying Maths and either a Science or Design subject.
Mrs Kelso, Assistant Headteacher at St Benedict’s is very pleased that the students have been accepted:
“This project is a fabulous opportunity to inspire and inform students. I’m delighted that St Benedict’s has had so many places awarded to such well deserving young people.”
