St Benedict’s School’s rugby teams are having a fantastic week, with wins for both the Year 8 and Year 7 teams.
The Year 8 Boys’ Rugby team progressed to the final of the County Cup on Thursday (18th) of last week, beating Dowdales School from Barrow.
St Benedict’s won following a golden point victory over Dowdales School. The score was tied at full time, 24-24. So the game went to extra time, with St Benedict’s eventually winning 28-24.
Try scorers on the day were Logan Holgate, Sam Fulton (2), Keelen Parr, Ashton Sice and Luke Spivey.
They will meet either West Lakes Academy or Furness Academy in the final.
Meanwhile, the Year 7 team also had an impressive win in the District Rugby League qualifying final on Monday (22nd) beating West Lakes Academy a massive 50 points to nil.
Try scorers were Spike Canavan (2), Harley Nelson (2), Miller Dalton, Benjamin McPhearson, Ethan Smith and Tom McKinney.
Harley Nelson also made the conversions to help take the team to their impressive win.
They will now go through to the Cumbrian region round, and will face either Dowdales School or Ulverston Victoria.
