The School has been awarded a national Leading Aspect Award valid until 2012 which has been designed with, and by, educational practitioners as a means to recognise leading practice that exists in schools, families of schools, Higher and Further Education Institutions, Behaviour Support Services, Foster Care, Secure Accommodation, in fact anywhere where leading practice exists and which may or may not have been recognised.
The DCSF is committed to supporting the Leading Aspect Award. The Department recognises the need for sharing leading practice and sees the Leading Aspect Award as an invaluable tool to promote this strategy.
The flexibility of this award acknowledges the diversity to select the area to be accredited and to tailor it to the individual setting - in our case, our Study Support programme.
It aims to help us:
- impact on pupil learning;
- identify and gain recognition for leading practice;
- support our own self‑review process;
- offer a way of disseminating and celebrating leading practice both locally and
nationally;
- identify ways in which we can raise standards
Education benefits because it:
- provides accreditation against standards
