The PTA is a vital organisation which works hard to improve the educational provision for our pupils as well as providing a sounding board for matters in relation to the school's future development.

It is appreciated that parents joining the PTA may only be able to give a limited commitment or just act as a helper on an occasional basis. Any assistance is welcome to spread the load.

The PTA meets on the first Tuesday of every month, within term time, 7pm in the Meeting Room next to the Staff Room.

2.  Minutes of last Meeting: Minutes from the meeting held on Tuesday 6^thOctober 2009 agreed as a true record.

•3.    Election of Officers:

•·           Chairperson - Emily Mason - Nominated by Karen M seconded Rose Ronaldson

•·           Vice Chairperson - Karen Mackay - Nominated by Emily Mason seconded by Rose Ronaldson

•·           Treasurer Nicola Styles - Nominated by Karen M seconded Margaret Morgan

•·           Secretary Mary McCormick - Nominated by Karen M seconded Emily Mason

•4.    Treasurers Report:

This years accounts haven't been audited yet, Accounts to be passed to Mary Lowery.  Over the year a loss of £124.48 was made but the PTA have made £500.00 worth of donations 

•5.    Fundraising:

•·       Fashion show - still ongoing.

•·      Bingo for kids - Issue with the using the hall on the 3^rd December  - New date     Wednesday 25^th November 6:30 to 8:30.  Letter was read out by Emily from Brad regarding the fundraising for Radio B.E.N.

 6.  200 Club: 
      Last draw from last years entries - September which is the double draw

7.  PTA makeover

•·      It was decided that the most appropriate new name was Friends of St Benedict's

•·      Items for this years fundraising in the short to medium term  -

•·      Covers for Piano,

•·      Seating for reading area,

•·      Radio equipment

•·      School council to be invited to the next meeting

•·      Emily to approach other School PTA's to see if they would like to attend the next meeting and/or quiz night.

•8.     A.O.B.

•·      Rose to check and see if we can get a discount through one of the parents for a

    £50.00 Argos voucher for Mr Holliday. - No discount on Vouchers

•·      Christmas Carol Service - Maria, Janet and Mary to do refreshments - need to check if the church has cups etc.

•·      Brad to be asked if he/others could come up with a logo for the "Friends of St Benedict's".

•·      Quiz night - Karen M to check with Mark about week commending 3^rd May.

•·      Tuesday 2^nd March Year 8 progress review 4;30 to 7:30 raffle tickets Karen M and Mary to sell raffle tickets.

•·      Voluteers needed to sell tickets on 17^th March

7.  Head Teachers report

• 2 days lost time with weather
• Paved area at the front of the School has become uneven and unsafe because of the recent weather conditions, this is to be repaired shortly.
• Tuesday 9^th February 6^th Form open evening.
• Thursday 11^th February - Rosehill performance night at 7:30.

•·      Kells Bingo on Monday 26^th April - to be cancelled due to lack of prizes and

          people to support it.

•·      Quiz night - To possibly be held on in July - Karen to check with Mark.

•·      200 club - Emily to redo leaflet so that we can email out to staff and parents.

•·      Book sale to be held at year 6 evening.

•·      Tanzania - £100.00 to be donated to the 3 pupils taking part, so £300.00 in total.

•·      Rock challenge - £300.00 to be donated towards costs.

7.   Heads update

•·           The School came 2^nd in Rock Challenge

•·           Sports - year 8 & 9 doing well at Rugby, and football is not far behind with achievement.

•·           Everyone is working hard towards exams

•·           Repairs and maintenance being carried out to the Sports Hall, tennis court fence and heating.

•·           Mr Price is leaving, Maureen McGrady is retiring, Mr Esslemont is leaving and Mrs Jarratt is leaving.

•·           School website to be updated.

•·           No plans to change the uniform contrary to current rumours.

•·           Last day of term to be non uniform.

•·           6^th September first day back in.

Thursday 24^th June Year 6 induction.

ECO day on Friday 9^th July green day.
