Introduction

"The Diocese of Lancaster is undertaking a thorough review of Catholic life in the diocese called "Fit for Mission? Church". An important aspect of this is "Fit for Mission? Schools". Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue, having visited all the Catholic schools in the diocese, praises their "vitality and enthusiasm". But he is not afraid to ask tough questions: "Have we forgotten the Jesus Christ is the true centre of all that we do because we have become too focused on other demands of school life?" The document is very realistic and at the same time full of hope.

St Benedict's School has formed a working group headed by Mrs A. Brook (headteacher) and Mr J. McCoy (chair of governors). The group has begun an audit of Catholic life in the school by producing questionnaires for staff, parents and students. An action plan will be drawn up based on the responses to these questionnaires.
