FINAL ARRANGEMENTS

JOURNEY

•·        Please make sure your child has taken travel sickness tablets if necessary before the journey and provide us with any further tablets that may be required.

•·        Pupils must be made aware that they are responsible for their own belongings at all times. It is much better if belongings are labeled and valuables are left at home!

•·        Pupils may bring suitable DVDs for watching during travel which should be labeled with the pupil's name.

•·        It is essential that pupils are prompt. We often only stop for 15 minutes and there is not time to shop, have a full English breakfast etc.  They may not eat burgers , chips etc on the coach.

•·        Pupils should wear comfortable clothes for the journey.  Remember we have to get off the coach several times during the night.

•·        Chewing gum is not allowed on the coach.

•·        A comfortable pillow is recommended on the coach.

•·        Pupils are allowed one item of hand luggage to contain packed meal, drinks, toiletries etc.

•·        A sensible packed meal will be required for such a long journey.  Bottled drinks or cartons are preferred to cans.

•·        Ipods must not disturb other passengers. We insist on silence after lights out on the coach- this is sleep time.

ADDITIONAL FORMS

The following forms should have been signed and handed in at the parents' meeting or a day later.

•·       Medical / Travel Consent

•·       Consent for remote supervision, photo inclusion

•·       Pupil contract agreement

We have a copy of emergency contact numbers and medical information for each child as provided by you recently but PLEASE PROVIDE ANY UPDATED INFORMATION INCLUDING ANY RECENT ILLNESS.

MEDICATION

Please make sure that your child has a travel sickness tablet before we leave, where necessary.   Any further tablets and/or medication should be labeled and handed into your child's leader.  Please tell one of us about any medical needs of your child.

BEHAVIOUR

For the safety and enjoyment of everyone it is essential that pupils listen to and carry out staff instructions.  We insist on punctuality and good manners.

Please support us by stressing to your child how important calm and considerate behaviour is.  We have always been complemented on the conduct of our pupils and this is a tradition we expect to see continue.

Parents and pupils have signed the behaviour code agreement and we would seek to remind everyone that alcohol and smoking are forbidden and be aware that to comply with UK law  as well as ouir own rules, alcohol, tobacco products along with laser pens and knives ( imitation ones included) may not be purchased.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR CONTACT

Please use the arrangements as set out if you need to contact us.

Pupils take full responsibility for mobile phones if they bring them.  We are not in a position to be able to report losses and please note that we cannot take calls from individuals' mobile phones.

There are phones at the centre and pupils can buy phone cards.

For the return journey pupils will be able to phone en route to confirm expected time of arrival.  This is usually done from Tebay Services.  Perhaps parents could relay information to each other.

MONEY AND POSSESSIONS

Please do not bring any unnecessary valuables.  Pupils will need to take good care of their own belongings.  We will not be able to investigate the loss of valuables beyond helping to search.

PLEASE LABEL BELONGINGS.  It saves so much time and anxiety.

The children will need English money for the journey to and from the ferry port.  They can spend either Euros or English money on board the ferry.

We recommend a maximum of €170 plus £20 for the return journey

Pupils in upper school are able to look after their own money but staff will look after all or some of their money on their behalf if you prefer.  In this case please divide up the money into envelopes with the day of the week and your child's name so that this can easily be handed out when required.

Please bear in mind the fact that your child will need not need to purchase lunches but might nevertheless want to make purchases when we do find places where we can buy pancakes, sandwiches and chips at reasonable prices if the novelty of the French bread wears off!

MEALS

We have a full board arrangement.  Our first meal will be evening meal on the 18th October and our last meal will be packed lunch on 23rd October

Pupils will need to make their own arrangements for meals outside these times.  There are loads of opportunities to visit cafés and snack bars.

PASSPORTS AND EHIC CARDS

Please make sure we have your child's passport in advance of the departure date  so that we can photocopy it and store the original safely.

Your child should carry their own EHIC card with them.
