Letter from Mrs Jackson – 23rd February

Dear Parents and Carers

Following the Government’s announcement about the re-opening of schools, we are currently working our way through the guidance and working out our plan for a safe and secure return to school.  This includes working out a programme of testing for all pupils.

OFQUAL have not yet published its response to the consultation about how grades will be awarded to Year 11 and Year 13.  We will contact all Year 11 and 13 parents by Friday outlining our plans going forward, and how assessments, such as mock examinations will be organised.  I know this is a source of anxiety for many students and for this, I apologise.  Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to make any firm plans until we are clear about OFQUAL and the Department for Education’s expectations.  I can, however, assure that we will make sure that none of our students will be disadvantaged by the current lack of clarity.  It is imperative that Year 11 and Year 13 continue to work hard, attend all lessons and complete all of their work, as it is for all year groups.

Can I conclude by saying we are delighted that our students will be returning to school.  While there is a lot to sort out and organise over the next two weeks, we cannot wait to have everyone safely back in the building.

I will write to you again, by the end of the week with an update on our plans.

Kindest regards

Emma Jackson

Head Teacher
