Impressive Start to the season for the Year 8 Boys

Having reached the Quarter Finals of the National Cup, and being crowned Allerdale and Copeland Champions last year, the Year 8 footballers had a lot to live up to this season.

So far, they have won all six of their games so this year too.

In the process they have reached the County Cup Final (to be played next year against the winners of Ulverston Victoria HS and Morton Academy) and Round 5 of the National Cup again, which is the last 64 schools nationally.

County Cup:

Vs Westlakes Academy won 5-1

Vs Ullswater High School won 7-4

Vs Dowdales won 7-1

National Cup:

Vs West Lakes Academy Won 6-2

Vs Morton Academy won 7-2

Vs Dowdales won 4-3

The team will now travel to play Maricourt Roman Catholic High School from Sefton away from home on Monday 10th December.

Mr Harrison said:

“I am anticipating a really tough test as Maricout themselves reached the final 16 schools nationally last year and were only defeated once last season by the eventual national champions.”

“Having said that myself and the lads travel down the Sefton full of confidence and optimism. We have a hard working squad, with some very talented players in our midst. Whatever the outcome I’m sure our lads will give it everything they have and won’t leave there without giving it their best shot.”

“It is great testament to their ability and belief that they have, since starting at St. Benedict’s posted an impressive 18 wins from 19 competitive matches.”
