Girls’ U15 Football Team Make Quarter Finals of National Cup

St Benedict’s girls’ football are having a great season, with the Under 15s girls’ team being the latest team to have a fantastic win!

The team beat Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School from Leeds last week, with a winning score of 3-1, and have now made the Quarter Finals of the National Cup.

The girls travelled to Leeds on Friday 7th February, with their PE teacher and coach Lisa Powe. Leanna Giles and Emi Rudd (2) were the goal scorers.

Miss Powe said:

“To win away in the last 16 of a National Competition is unreal. My nerves were shattered. The girls were just unbelievable and I am super proud of them all.”

“We played with energy, skill and above all, superb team work. We can’t wait to play on our home turf in the Quarter Finals.”

The girls will now face Walkden High from Manchester in the Quarter Finals at home.

This is an amazing achievement and we would like to wish the girls all the best!
