Last week saw the school hold various assemblies and workshops around our ‘Careers Journey Week,’ which was planned in line with the national event, ‘Discover! Creative Careers Week.’
Discover! Creative Careers is a week-long event launched this year in England which will see hundreds of employers from across the creative industries opening their doors to young people to inspire and inform the next generation of workers.
As well as various workshops and assemblies within school, Mr Hamilton also took a group of students to visit Grasmere as part of a partnership with the National Trust.
Mrs Kelso, Assistant Headteacher at the school commented:
“We are pleased to have worked with the National Trust as part of the Discover! Creative Careers Week, and look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.”
We also had various UNIFROG workshops throughout the week, and visits from businesses to talk to our students.
One of the most successful of these talks was from Lee Butterworth, a former St Benedict’s student, and owner of Xtreme Fitness.
Lewis McCartney & Sam Murtagh from Year 10 has some lovely feedback:
“Lee spoke about how her turned his life around, from being silly in school to owning his own gym. It was inspirational to people and will make them think differently about situations in school.”
“When he turned 25 and started college he gave 100% with everything and he wouldn’t give up. He is now in a good strong place.”
“So, thank you to Lee for coming into school.”
